What is an ecosystem?
An ecosystems is all the organisms in one place as well as all the abiotic factors- light, soil quality and salinity.

Abiotic factors are the non living factors e.g sunlight, soil quality etc...

What is the difference between a habitat and an ecosystem?
A habitat is just a place where an organism lives.

How is an ecosystem self supporting?
It contains everything needed for sustainability- water, nutrients and essential elements all get recycled.

What is distribution?
Distribution is where organisms are found in a particular area.

How do you make a transect?
To make a transect place a line with a tape measure and add quadrats all the way along. You can then count the organisms and you can calculate the % cover . Finally you can plot the results on a kite.

What is a kite and what can it show?
A kite is a diagram that shows the distribution and abundance of organisms along the transect.
