What are ecosystems?
All organisms living in a particular area.
1 of 10
How do you measure population size using a quadrat?
Count all organisms in a 1m2 quadrat and multiply by total area of the habitat.
2 of 10
What is the capture recapture method?
You capture a sample of organisms and mark them before releasing them. Then you recapture a similar sized sample on a different day from the same area and count how many are marked.
3 of 10
What is the capture recapture formula?
Population=(number in first sample x number in second sample)/number of marked in second sample
4 of 10
What do transects do?
Show distribution of organisms.
5 of 10
What does a kite diagram show?
Distribution and number of organisms.
6 of 10
What are abiotic factors?
Non-living factors that affect the distribution of organisms, such as water or salinity.
7 of 10
What is zonation?
Gradual change in distribution of species across a habitat.
8 of 10
What are natural ecosystems?
