Democracy
A general description of various political systems that are organised on the basis that governments should serve the interests of the people. It is expected in liberal democracies that citizens should influence decisions or make decisions themselves.

This term refers to the characteristic of some institutions that give them the right to exercise power. This can be claimed whey an institution is accountable and/or elected.
