when an individual’s behaviour/beliefs are influenced by a larger group of people.

public and private acceptance of the majority influence in order to gain group acceptance. The person doesn’t have to agree with the group they just want to be a part of it.

public and private acceptance of majority influence, through the adoption of the majority groups belief system. We take on the majority view because we accept it as correct, this leads to permanent change.

an explanation of conformity that says we agree with the opinion because we want to be accepted.
