What is direct intracellular signalling?
signals pass through cell junction from cytosol of one cell to adjacent cell
1 of 6
What is contact-dependant signalling?
membrane-bound signals bind to receptors on adjacent cells
2 of 6
What is autocrine signalling?
cells release signals that affect themselves and nearby target cells
3 of 6
What is paracrine signalling?
cells release signals that affect nearby target cells
4 of 6
What is endocrine signalling?
cells release signals that travel long distances to affect target cells
5 of 6
What are the 3 stages of cell communication?
(1) receptor activation. (2) signal transduction. (3) cellular response
