what is the function of the largest artery the aorta?
transport oxygenated blood blood from the left ventricle through the aortic semi lunar valve around the body.
1 of 12
what does the large vein, superior vena cava do ?
returns the deoxygenated blood from (around the body) the head and arm to the right atrium.
2 of 12
what happens between the right atrium and right ventricle?
the deoxygenated blood flow through the atria which contracts and forces the blood into the right ventricle through tricuspid valve. the atria relaxes and the ventricle starts to contract.
3 of 12
where does the deoxygenated blood flow to from the right ventricle.
the deoxygenated blood flow from the right ventricle through the pulmonary arterial valve and pulmonary artery towards the heart.
4 of 12
what is the role of pulmonary artery?
the pulmonary artery is passage out of the heart for the deoxygenated blood to flow towards the heart to supply nutrients to the lungs.
5 of 12
what happens in the lung when it receives the deoxygentaed blood?
respiration occurs - carbon dioxide is dropped off in the alveoli of the lungs and oxygen is picked up in the blood . this oxygenated blood flow back to the left side of the heart.
6 of 12
what happens in the left side of the heart.
the oxygenated blood flows through the left atria to left ventricles through the mitral valve . with the process of relaxation and contraction of the the ventricles and atria. then oxygenated blood flows through aorta out of the heart.
7 of 12
what is the role of valves.
to allow the blood to flow in one direction and prevent back flow of blood.
8 of 12
why does the blood go around the body .
so then oxygen is delivered to the cells to release energy.
9 of 12
why do we need energy ?
Energy fuels your body's internal functions, repairs, builds and maintains cells and body tissues, and supports the external activities that enable you to interact with the physical world.
10 of 12
what are the part for circulatory system.
the pulmonary circulation - flow of blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs and back again . systemic circulation - flow of blood from the the left side of the heart and around the body and back again.
11 of 12
the inferior vena cava function is ?
brings deoxygenated blood from the lower body and legs to the right atrium.
