HOW WAS BLAIR NOT A TYPICAL LABOURITE?
His father had been a Conservative supporter, and Blair hadn't joined the party until after uni. This made it easier for him to move the party away from traditional left wing policies.

It needed to be relevant in the modern world. Socity and the economy had changed in a way that meant Labour could no longer rely on the traditional working class vote.

He was charasmatic and comfortable with the press. He performed well in Parliament but also on non political TV shows. He portrayed himself as ordinary, wore casual clothes, had been in a rock band, watched football ect.
