Biology - Enzymes and digest + Cells, tissues and organs

?
What are found in both animal and plant cells?
The nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria and ribosomes.
1 of 18
What are found in plant cells but not animal cells?
The cell wall, chloroplasts and permanent vacuole
2 of 18
What is the job of the mitochondria?
They are structures in the cytoplasm where most of the energy is released during respiration.
3 of 18
What is the job of the ribosomes?
This is where protein synthesis takes place. All the proteins needed in the cell are made here.
4 of 18
What is the cell membrane?
It is the edge of the cell which controls the passage of substance in and out of the cell.
5 of 18
What is cytoplasm?
This is a liquid gel in which most of the chemical reactions needed for life take place.
6 of 18
What is the permanent vacuole?
It is a space in the cytoplasm filled with cell sap which is important for keeping the cell rigid.
7 of 18
What is the job of the chloroplasts?
Found in all green parts of the plant, the chloroplasts contain the green substance chlorophyll which absorbs light energy to make food by photosynthesis.
8 of 18
What is the cell wall?
The cell wall surrounds the cell membrane and is made of cellulose which strengthens the cell and gives it support.
9 of 18
What is the link between cells, tissues and organs?
Similar cells make a tissue and similar tissues make an organ.
10 of 18
What properties do a bacterial cell have?
Cytoplasm, bacterial flagellum, ribosomes, mesosome, plasmids, capsule, plasma membrane, DNA(nucleoid) and cell wall.
11 of 18
What do plasmids contain?
Plasmids contain additional DNA which allows it to become resistant to antibiotics.
12 of 18
What properties do yeast cells have?
Cell membrane, a nucleus, cytoplasm, vacuole and food storage granules.
13 of 18
What is the function of epithelial tissue?
It can have different structures depending on where in the body it is found, however, its general function is covering tissue.
14 of 18
What is the function of smooth muscle cells?
They create visceral or non-strained (smooth) involuntary muscle tissue.
15 of 18
What is the function of glandular tissue?
Glandular tissue is a type of epithelial tissue that produces substances e.g.: enzymes, hormones, etc
16 of 18
What is involuntary muscle?
Involuntary muscles are muscles that move involuntarily e.g. the heart
17 of 18
The roles of the epithelial, glandular and muscle tissue in the stomach?
Muscle tissue helps churn the food and mixes it with acid and enzymes, glandular tissue produces digestive enzymes and epithelial tissue covers the stomach to protect the lining from the hydrochloric acid.
