what do multicellular organisms develop?
systems for exchanging material. during the development of a multicellular organism cells differtiate so that they can perform different function.
1 of 16
what is a tissue?
is a group of cells with similar structure and function
2 of 16
what are some examples of animal tissues?
muscle tissue, *glandular tissue *epithelial tissue
3 of 16
what does a muslce tissue do?
can contract to bring about movement
4 of 16
what does a glandula tissue do?
to produce substances such as enzymes or hormones
5 of 16
what does a epithelial tissue do?
which covers some parts of the body
6 of 16
what are some examples of plant tissues?
epidermal, *mesophyll *xylem and phloem
7 of 16
what does a epidermal tissue do?
covers the plant
8 of 16
what does a mesophyll tissue do?
which can photosynthesis
9 of 16
what does xylem and phloem tissues do?
which transport substances around the plant
10 of 16
what is an organ?
organs are made up of tissues.
11 of 16
what is the stomatch organ made up of?
muscular tissues - to churn the stomatch content *gladular tissues - produce digestive juices *epitherlial tissue - cover the outside and inside of the stomatch
12 of 16
name 3 plant organs
leaf, stem and root - these contain epidermal, mesophyll, xylem and phloem
13 of 16
what are organ systems?
are groups of organs that perform a particular function. the digestive system is one example of a system in which humans and other mammals exchange substances with the environment
14 of 16
what does the digestive system consist of?
*glands, such as the pancreas and salivary glands, which produce digestive juices. *the stomatch and small intestine where digestion occurs. *the livere which produces bile *the small intestine where the absorption of soluble food occurs.
15 of 16
what does the digestive system consist of? continued
the large intestine, where water is absorbed from undigested food, producing faeces.
