?
What is a cell?
The building blocks of all organisms.
1 of 6
What are the similarities of plant and animal cells?
Both have a nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane and mitochondria
2 of 6
What are the differences between plant and animal cells?
Plant cells have a cell wall, a vacuole and chloroplasts, but animal cells do not.
3 of 6
What are specialised cells?
It has a structure that suits its function.
For example a white blood cell.
4 of 6
Examples of specialised ANIMAL cells
1) Red blood cells (carry oxygen around body for respiration)
2) Sperm cells (male sex cell) and egg cells (female sex cell)
3) Nerve cells (transmit electrical systems in the nervous system)
4) Muscle cells (able to contract and relax)
5) Cillated cells
5 of 6
Examples of specialised PLANT cells
1) Root hair cells of a plant (hairs on plant roots that give the root larger surface area to absorb more water and minerals)
2) Pallisade cells (on the top of a plant that helps with photosynthesis)
3) Xylem cells (transport water from roots to other par
