Privation
The lack of having any attachments due to the failure to develop such attachments during early life.

Institutional care
A place dedicated to looking after children for a long period of time.

Disinhibited attachment
A type of disorganized attachment, where children do not discriminate between people they choose as attachment figures. they will treat strangers with over friendliness and maybe attention seeking.

Emotional bond between two people. Leads to certain behaviours such as clinging and proximity seeking, serves the function of protecting the child.

Form of temporary care, not given by family members, usually outside the home.

Peer relations
Child's ability to form close relationships with other children. Relationships enable the child to develop important social skills, such as, cooperating or solving social conflict.
