- They are transmitted through healthy tissue, but are absorbed by deser material like bone, tumors and metal

- They affect photgraphic paper like light does so can be used to take photographs

- These can be used to help doctors diagnose patients with medical conditions such as bone fractures and dental problems

Problems:

- Developing tissue are more harmed by x-rays (such as babies)
