German Expansion

-Conscription started again in G 1935

-aircraft production limits also exceeded

-WC argued that this was a threat form Germany, though many did not see it this way due to AH's "indifference" over G's lost Arican/Pacific colonies

-UK would not be directly threatened if G wanted back it's lost European lands, esp. if these lands contained G speakers

-Nazi Germany was seen as unpleasant but had not yet started Jewish extermination or done anything "abnormal" in its relations to Britain

-Olympic Games of 1936 provided distraction and seemed to prove that G was a normal European country

-The abdication crisis was another distraction unti 1938

-!938= G annexation of Austria. This went against TOV but UK did little despite French protests

-AH began to stir up unrest in G speaking areas of Cz. 

-However --> Sudentenland had never been part of G + Cz had pacts w/ both USSR + Fr.

-moving the border would make Cz nearly defenceless
