The post excavation process
- Material arrives from the site in bags, boxes etc.
- Finds are roughly sorted by material
- Fragile finds or finds that are decaying undergo conservation, e.g. bones may be treated with PVA to stop them crumbling, organic samples may be treated with fungicides to prevent decay.
- Cleaning of finds-more robust finds are cleaned in water, e.g. flint tools and ceramics (unless analysis of…
