When teaching about what he had learned, the Buddha tried to explain what suffering was and how it could be overcome, these teachings are known as the Four Noble Truths. These are the basis of all Buddhist teachings. The Four Noble Truths are as follows:
1. The truth of suffering. (Dukkha)
2. The cause of this suffering is craving and attachment. (Tanha)
3. There is a way to remove this suffering, it is to achieve Nibbana. (Nirodha)
