Sudetenland Crisis and Munich Agreement 1938

With Hitler delighted and encouraged by his many successes, Hitler decides to focus on Czechoslovakia. Part of Czechoslovakia was German speaking individuals in the area known as the Sudetenland. This was the area that recieved all of Hitlers attention to fulfill his aim of expanding in easterm Europe to give German people lebensruam (living space). If he could win their support he would be an even popular powerful leader.

Edward Benes,leader of Czechoslovakia, was horrified by the Anchluss unlike France and Britain.

Britain and France were not prepared to stand up to Hitler.

Benes had an agreement with Britain and France to defend Czechoslovakia incase Hitler invaded.

Appeasement was the new tactic of keeping the peace after the league of nations fell apart.
