Sedimentary Processes
- occur at surface of lithosphere
- a rock already exists broken down by weathering into rock particles and dissolved minerals in solution
- these are carried away, separted and may be redeposited elsewhere as rocks with quite different compositions and properties
Alluvial/placer deposits
carried by flowing water but deposited when water slows down- different minerals deposited in different parts of the river, with densest ones settling out first
