SCHIZOPHRENIA:

  • a long-term mental disorder of type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion and behaviour
  • difficulties with thought process
  • most common psychiatric disorder - 3 in 100 people in the UK

CAUSES

  • mother bleeding throughout pregnancy
  • head injury as a child
  • brain development- small changes in brain cells
  • a virus during pregnancy

SYMPTOMS

  • hallucinations- hearing voices
  • not making sense- incoherence
  • delusions
  • drifting between ideas
  • hyper active or cationic (not moving)
  • flat effect

P.I.E.S.F

PHYSICAL

  • risk of suicide- hearing voices such as drive someone to harm themselves
  • lack of energy
  • change in sleep pattern
  • self-harm

INTELLECTUAL

  • confusion - not
