SCHIZOPHRENIA:
- a long-term mental disorder of type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion and behaviour
- difficulties with thought process
- most common psychiatric disorder - 3 in 100 people in the UK
CAUSES
- mother bleeding throughout pregnancy
- head injury as a child
- brain development- small changes in brain cells
- a virus during pregnancy
SYMPTOMS
- hallucinations- hearing voices
- not making sense- incoherence
- delusions
- drifting between ideas
- hyper active or cationic (not moving)
- flat effect

PHYSICAL
- risk of suicide- hearing voices such as drive someone to harm themselves
- lack of energy
- change in sleep pattern
- self-harm
