Law - Laws were very clear in Ancient Rome; written and made public on the Twelve Tables. These were twelve categories of rules that made it clear to Romans what they could and couldn't do legally. . Children were taught to read and write by copying them down. These rules were displayed in public places for everyone to see.

Law was based in 5 key principles:

- Everyone was under the law

- The law should be pubically known

- New laws should be rationlly worked from
