Earth wire- for safety, only carries a current when there is a fault.

Earth pin- tells you which way round the earth wire goes.

Live wire- most dangerous, mains voltage may kill you.

Neutral wire- completes the circuit, voltage not as high as live wire.

Plug- protects you from the wire.
