Observing The Sky

Sidereal Day is the time taken for a Star to return to the Same Position in the Sky. (Its about 23hrs 56mins)

- Look at the sky for a long time, distant stars apear to move across it from east to west. The Star is not moving but Earth is spining on Axis. For the Star to appear in the same position again, the Earth must spin 360. Time taken to do this is a Sidereal Day.
