New Right Conservatism (Thatcherism)

Conservative party had to change their beliefs to combat the worsening ecoomy, high unemplyment, a huge public sector debt and inflation.

Deregulation

• The state should do as little as possible to intervene in industy, welfare policy and management of the economy.
  
• Privatise all major industires that were originally nationalised to increase competition and encourage companies to give a better service.

Disengagement

• State should not intervene in declining industies as if they fail resources will be allocated to growing industires or they will be forced to become more efficient, this will improve…
