Milgram's agency theory

Moral Strain- when people become uncomfortable with their behaviour because they know what they are doing is wrong and goes against their values.

Agentic- acting as an agent for an authority figure and obeying regardless of your conscience.

Autonomous state- Acting under your own free will and conscience. Your actions are voluntary and individuals see themselves as having power.

We learn to act agentically to survive from an early age and we get this from our society such as in school etc.
