Heavy Industry 

• First three five year plans 1928-1941(first 1928-1932, second 1933-1937, third 1938-1941) 
• Production increased massively, coal from 35,4-165 million tons during this time
• New factories built such as Magnitogorsk
• Fourth five year plan, 1945-50, 88% of investement went into heavy industry
• Led to industrial output of 80% increase 

Light Industry

• Continual shortages of clothes, shoes and furniture 
• Could only produce raw materials not consumer good, often 40% of raw materials wasted
• 1928-1941 consumer goods were rationed…
