Immigration to the USA

The statue of liberty

The statue of liberty was the symbol of liberty that greeted new immigrants to the US who were trying to escape famine, hardship and poverty or just seeking a new beginning. The American economies needed both skilled and unskilled workers. They needed migrants willing to take risks and explore and open up the rural west. The statue of liberty was there to greet these migrants.
