Combining Forces

When there are multiple forces acting on an object, it's often usrful to know the resultant force acting on the object. To do this you need to know the size and direction of the different forces acting on the object.

Force is a vector Quantity- vector quantities have a size and a direction. 

Vector Quantities: Force, Velocity, Displacement, Acceleration, Momentum etc. 

Some physical quantities only have size and no direction these are called Scalar Quantities.

Scalar Quantities: Mass, temperature, time, length etc.
