Scot remained a great threat to HvIII due to its traditional alliance with FR (and main thrust of H's foreign relations was anti-FR)
JIV was married to H's sister Marg but this did not secure his loyalty to the Eng monarchy.

As an Anglophobe, J had history of supporting anti-tudor impostures so there was little surprise that he intervened in Anglo-FR war in 1512 when a Scot army marched on Eng with the intention of diverting Eng troops from FR.- this intervention, however, proved disastrous when the Scot army was routed and King J killed at the Battle of Flodden Field in 1513.
