Hitler and the Nazis in 1933

What position was Hitler given in the German government in January 1933?

A meeting was called between Field Marshall Hindenburg and Hitler on the morning of the 30th of January 1933; Hitler was invited by Hindenburg to lead a new government, a coalition government in which the national socialist party would share power with others, including Franz Von Papen. Hitler had been appointed Chancellor of the new government.

Was this legal? Explain why/why not?

The Weimar Republic was undergoing political issues and Hitler took advantage and demanded to be appointed chancellor. He used force to get the title of power he had been aiming for.
