The Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 - (HSWA) is the main bit of legislation for British health and safety law.

All employers have to ensure that all employees and visitors to the workplace are protected in terms of health, safety and welfare.

The employer does not have to take control methods to reduce the risk if the cost is not justified by the reduction in risk that the measure would produce.
