FALSE TWIST;
- this uses the thermoplastic quality of fibre
- yarn is made by tightly twisting heat setting then untwisting
- results in permanent crinkles and snarls
- used for hoisery, swimwear, knitted outwear
BULKED/CONTINUOUS;
- uses thermoplastic quality, usually nylon etc
- nylon yarn is forced forward by a jet of hot fluid against a cold surface causing the development of zig-zag appearance
- yarn becomes thicker and softer

- a crimpled yarn is made by knitting yarn into fabric, heat setting then unravelling
