- Argued that importance of father figure developed into male god - didnt consider religions that have female gods (egyptian isis cult), or with no god at all (buddhism).
- According to karl Popper, a genuine scientific theory must be testable, and therefore falsifiable. Freuds theory is compatible with every possible state of affair, and so cannot be falsifiable, therefore not scientific.
