Occured on an ice cap Iceland, March/April 2010
What happened:
N.American and Eurasian plate diverge- Mid Atlantic ridge
March 20th- minor eruptions- major eruption began in April- major eruption 19th April
Ocurred underneath an ice sheet, dissolved gases in the rock and steam from melting created volcanic ash
Ash plume 11,000 m in air- fine grained- 24% the equivalent…
