Various enzymes are used in digestion- theyre produced by specialised cells and then released into the gut
Digestive Enzymes Break Down Big Molecuesl into Smaller Ones
- Starch, proteins and fats are BIG molecules. They're too big to pass through the walls of the digestive system. They're also insoluble
- Sugars, amino acids, glycerol and fatty acids are much smaller moelcues. They're soluble and can pass easily through the walls of the digestive system
- The digestive enzymes break down the BIG molecules into the smaller ones
