Main ideas of humanistic theory:

• We all have the power to decide on our own actions
• We should focus on the present now rather on the past
• We are motivated to be the best we can be to furfill our potential

It was developed by Maslow and Rodgers in 1950s

• Self concept developed in early childhood 
• From ages 1-2
• Self Concept: How you see yourself (inner)
• Young children: See themselves in physical terms
• Older Children: Look at social roles- what they are good and bad at
