- The New Deal was a series of domestic programs implemented by the federal government from 1933 to 1938 in response to the Great Depression.
- Franklin D. Roosevelt served as president from 1933 to 1945 during the New Deal era.
- The primary objective of the New Deal was for the federal government to assist people in meeting their basic needs & combat the effects of the Great Depression, which had led to a breakdown of the credit system & a fall in commodity prices. Roosevelt's New Deal Legislation reorganized the banking system, reformed the Federal Reserve System, passed the Farm Relief Act (May 1933) & made the Commodity Credit Corporation offer agricultural subsidies.
