The cognitive approach studies the ways we interpret, store and retreive information to guide our behaviour, These mental processes may include attention and retrieval of information when we need it. Cognitive scientists know we can only infer mental processes as they can't be directly observed. We can then observe behaviour and make theories about it based off what we know about cogntive processes.

Schemas are mental frameworks that help us organise and interpret information in the brain. Schemas for specific events are based on how we expect to act in certain conditions.

Schemas are good as they allow us to take shortcuts when interpretating huge amounts of information we come across every day. They allow us to act accordingly around a person based off
