What Happened

• Athena asks Zeus to release Odyesseus from Calyspo island. Zeus send Hermes to tell Cayplso that she must let Odysseus retun home.
• Hermes goes to Ogygia to tells Cayplso the news.
• A descrittion of Calyspo cave is given: "great bunches of grapes...." etc....
• Hermes informs Calypso that she must, by the command of Zeus, let Odyesseus retun home to Ithaca.
• Calypso is not pleased with the news, saying how she tended to him when he washed up on Ogygia but she knows she has to obey Zeus, so agrees to let Odysseus return home. Hermes leave.
• Caylpso goes to Odysseus, who is sitting disconalte on the shore, in his accustomed [alce, tormenting himself with teard and sighs and heartache and looking out across the barren stream with streaming eyes.
• Caylspo informs Odysseus, that she is ready with all her heart that she is ready to help him leave. She will show him where to get the wood for a raft and will give him clothes and water and bread to take with him.
• Odysseus makes Caylpso swaer that she plots no others miscef against Odysseus.
• Odysseus makes the raft. He chops up 20trees nd trimmned and made their edges striaght. Caylpso shows him hwere to chop the above trees, and gives him a bronze axe, a adze of polished metal, boring tools and a cloth to make a sail.
