A sensory neuron moves the electrical impulse TOWARDS the cell, from the receptor to the central nervous system (CNS).

However a motor neuron moves the electrical impulse AWAY from the cell, from the central nervous system to the effector.

For example, when you look in to a bright light, the light sensitive cells in your eye detect the stimuli and send an electrical impulse down the sensory neuron from the receptor to the CNS, where the information is processed and
