Biological Therapies:

Psychosurgery: involves systematically damaging the brain in order to change behaviour- in the 1950s the amygdala was taken out in over-aggressive people to reduce levels of violence. the most dramatic use of psychosurgery was the removal of the frontal labotomy and was used as a treatement for schizophrenia. It involved cutting pathways between higher and lower centres of the brain.
