EPISODE TWO SUMMARY
- Chorus suggests they don't have a lot of sympathy for Antigone's defiance towards the State = "mad defiance."
- Sentry is again essential for plot progression - outlines how they unburied Polynices' body and Antigone rushes in to bury her brother again = she denied nothing when interrogated by them.
- Creon gives her a chance to deny the fact she's heard of the decree, but she declares she was "well aware." = defends her actions by saying the god's did not issue the proclamation and that Creon is a "fool."
- Creon believes that Ismene is guilty also without cause.
- Antigone talks on behalf of the chorus and suggests they agree with her.
- Use of STICHOMYTHIA in this scene to build tension.
- Antigone defines how glory in death is the greatest honour again, alike to the Prologue, describes Creon as a tyrant in his use of "ruthless power" to please himself. = Also that death rituals should be the same for all.
- Creon shows his misogynistic self - no woman will "lord it over me" and imagery of Antigone being a horse that should be broken in.
- Chorus present Ismene as not guilty, she starts to protest she is but Antigone doesn't want her to = like shared honour for doing nothing, tells her she does not grudge her survival.
- Creon decides to kill Antigone, despite her being engaged to his son.

- Declares that it wasn't Zeus who issues the proclamation in defense of her actions.
- States that it is Creon's "wounded pride" that is fuelling his actions and she was not about to face the "retribution…
