Anglar unconformities
- Represent a break in time, a period when no sediment was depositied.
- May be result of changing environment or earths movements and erosion
- Occur where rocks above the uncomformity have a different dip/and or strike, to the rocks underneath the plane of unconformity.
How an unconformity forms
- Stage 1: Deposition of beds of rock, with the youngest at the top and oldest at the bottom.
- Stage 2: Beds of rock are tilted by earths movements as a result of compressional forces folding the rocks.
