Anarchism Definitions to Learn

Autonomy: self-government, i.e. the ability to control one's own destiny by virtue of enjoying independence from external influences

Collectivism: the belief that collective human effort is of greater practical and moral value than individual effort

Individualism: the belief in the supreme importance of the individual over any social group or collective body

Utopianism: the theory of an ideal or perfect society, critiquing the existing order by constructing a model of an ideal or perfect alternative

Anarchism: the belief that political authority, in any form and especially in the form of the state, is both evil and unnecessary

Consumerism: a psychic and social phenomenon whereby personal happiness is equated with the consumption of material possessions

Nihilism: the belief in nothing; the rejection of all moral and political principles
