An anaolgy is a comparison between two things that are similar in some way.}

Analogies can be used to help make something easier to understand by describing or explaining it in comparison to something else

'The liver filters the blood to remove impurities. It functions just like an oil filter in a car engine which cleans the oil.' The anaology is between the liver and the oil filter and it is used here becasue the functions are seen to be similar in that both remove
