The Catholic Church

  • Life is sacred from the moment of conception

"Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being" - CCC2258

  • Deliberate procured abortion is a serious sin

"Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception; abortion and infanticide are the most abominable of crimes" - Roman Catholic Church

  • Everyone should have respect for human life and their rights
  • Women's rights cannot be an excuse to deny the unborn child the fundamental right to live

Abortion would be okay if:

  • If the child was to be disabled (abortion may be the most loving cause of action)
  • If the child was to be born into a poor/disadvantaged family
  • If the birth was to be fatal for the mother or the unborn child
