General information

The film council was set up in 2000.

It is funded by the national lottery and the government who supply the film council with£27m each yearly.

The new cinema fund has a cultural aim in supporting edgier small-scale film making. The development fund adresses the fundamental UK problem of poor script development by providing some money in the early stages of script preperation.

film funding can take several years to see if profits or losses will be made, meaning funding is'nt instant

Distribution

The main problem isnt making the films it is getting them shown in cinemas etc

Hollywood films are always going to take precedence in the multiplex.

American films will always attract big audiences for this reason.
