How was Anastasia supposed to have escaped and why did she eventually head for Berlin (according to Anderson)?

RUSSIAN REVOLUTION

She claimed a guard (Alexander Tchaikovsky) noticed her alive, and he took her to Bucahrest in Roumania, married her and had a child. He and the child then died, but whilst she was alone in Roumania he never contacted her mothers cousin Queen Marie of Roumania.

She was pulled out of a river in Berlin after what was thought to be a suicide attempt. At first she claimed to be Tatiana but later she claimed to be Anastasia whcih stuck as her story for the rest of her life. However for political reasons she was named Anna Anderson, later when she became married she wa known as Anna Manahan.
