Visual display unit

This displays requests or information from the computer to the user and allows the user to see what they are inputing.

Plotters

These are machines that create large and accurate drawings from data inputted by a user. The two main types are flatbed and drum plotters.

Speakers and headphones

These provide the user audio output. Speakers covert electronic signals in the sound card to sound waves that can be heard by the user. Speakers broadcast sound to anyone in earshot whereas headphones are only heard by the user wearing them.

Braille terminals

This is a specialist reader device for visually impaired users who use visual display units. It displays text through rounded individual cells that are usually rounded metal or plastic pins that protrude from the terminal for the user to read in braille.
