  • Reel=simple time=4/4
  • fast quaver movement
  • simple harmony

  • folk dance originated in Punjab region of North India
  • male dance, strong energetic steps

  • use of string and percussion instruments
  • makes use of electronic instruments (e.g synthesisers, drum machines)

  • reverb often added to voice
  • backing vocals common

  • TECHNO-combination of techo, disco and funk music, synths and drum machines
  • DRUM 'N' BASS-manipulated beats, strong bass lines, loops
  • GARAGE-US Garage, influenced by soul and gospel. UK Garage, faster tempo
  • TRANCE-slower tempo, focus on melodic lines
  • AMBIENT-focus on timbre and atmospheric feel, longer track lengths
