SLAB SAWN

RADIAL (QUARTER) SAWN

• more aesthetically pleasing
• more stable
• less likely to move, wrap, bow or twist

Seasoning - process of reducing excess water & moisture from the cell walls (apx <20%)

..so that the timber becomes:

• less prone to rote & decay
• less corrosive to metals
• stronger & more dimensionally stable

1) KILN DRYED

• quicker
• reduces most moisture

2) AIR DRYED

• slow
• doesnt remove all moisture
