Balacing Equations

There must be the same number of atoms of each element on both sides.

To balance an equation, just do one type of atom at a time:

Unbalanced H2SO4 + NaOH - Na2SO4 + H2O

Balance Hydrogen on Right Hand Side H2SO4 + NaOH - Na2SO4 + 2H2O

Balance Sodium Hydroxide on Left Hand Side H2SO4 + 2NaOH - Na2SO4 +2H2O
